About the MasterCard Alamo Bowl
The MasterCard Alamo Bowl has called the Alamodome home since its first game on December 31, 1993. Over the last six years, the Alamo Bowl has averaged crowds of 61,035, an average that is over 94 percent of the Alamodome's capacity.
The 1999 SYLVANIA Alamo Bowl featuring #13 Penn State and #18 Texas A&M drew a standing room only crowd of 65,380, the largest sports crowd in Alamodome history. The 2004 MasterCard Alamo Bowl boasts the second largest sports crowd in Alamodome history as 65,265 packed the stadium to watch Ohio State upend Oklahoma State 33-7.
The Alamodome has also hosted the soldout 1997 and 1999 Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championships which matched Nebraska versus Texas A&M and Nebraska versus Texas, respectively. The most successful regular season college game featured Texas A&M against SMU on October 29, 1994 in front of 51,056.
